Local elections 2025: What we stand for

A Green City – the world’s best city for children –homes you can afford

A GREEN CITY

We will work for:

  • Green transport: More metro lines, better bike lanes, cheaper public transport, and more electric car-sharing.
  • Farewell to fossil cars: Phasing out all fossil-fuel cars
  • 100 green streets: From asphalt to green spaces with room for play, nature, and community.

Copenhagen must be greener – both in its climate footprint and in everyday life. We want to plant more trees, create green streets, and prioritize climate and well-being when developing the city. We need cleaner air, and we must lower our CO₂ emissions.

The best city for children

We will work for:

  • More bilingual kindergartens: making bilingual education a broader option in municipal childcare.
  • School meals for all: A hot meal every day in all institutions from daycare to school
  • Play and learning instead of pressure: Fewer tests, shorter school days, and more creative free time.
  • Support close by: Early intervention in vulnerable families and help for all children, so no one slips through the cracks.

Copenhagen must be the world’s best city for children. Children and families are under pressure, and institutions lack staff, which is why both childcare and schools must be safe havens where all children are seen, heard, and supported.

A city for everyone with affordable housing

We will work for:

  • More cooperative and owner-occupied housing: stop private equity takeovers, and ensure mixed neighborhoods with possibilities for all – no matter your income
  • Housing must be housing – not hotels: We will  put an end to permanent Airbnb rentals so that Copenhageners are not pushed out of the city.
  • Priority for recently divorced parents with children: so families can stay close to schools and networks.
  • More affordable public housing: for students, families, vulnerable citizens, and the elderly.

We need more affordable housing so that Copenhagen does not become a city only for those with the highest incomes.

We want to create a Copenhagen where everyone, regardless of background, has space for living and with opportunities for all. A city where children grow up in safe surroundings and local communities that flourish, with high quality schools and qualified professionals so that they can  reach their potential and where we invest in a social safety net that carries and empowers us when life at times becomes challenging. A city where older people can stay active, and families with children can find housing they can afford. A green city – both in terms our climate foot print and for our citizens in everyday life.
